Bauchi Legislator empowers 150 in Chiroma Constituency.

The Member Representing Chiroma constituency in the Bauchi state House of Assembly Alhaji Bakoji Bobbo has empowered 150 women with N10,000 each, to support their businesses.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the empowerment programme on Sunday in Misau, Bobbo said the empowerment was to provide the women folks with support to be self-reliant.

Bobbo said the gesture was to encourage the women through capacity development for self reliance.

The member renewed his resolve to empower women and youths through capacity development initiatives to his chiroma constituency.

He advised the beneficiaries to use the token given to them to be self reliant and for the development of the economy.

Bobbo further said the gesture was also aimed at fulfilling his campaign promises through empowerment to become self reliance.

The lawmaker said the selection process for the 150 beneficiaries was done by a committee set up by stakeholders in the constituency.

“What we are doing is to see how we can show support for them. In Chiroma constituency, I have 8 wards that I’m covering,” Bobbo said.

In her remark, Hajiya Amina Katagum the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammmed of Bauchi state, said the gold of empowerment was to ensure that women within his constituency become self-reliant.

She advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money to further boost their businesses.

She assured the women in the state of the governor’s continued support so as to improve their living condition.

On his part, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed the Chairman of Misau local government area commended the effort of the lawmaker for empowering women to be self-reliant in his constituency.

He urged the lawmaker to sustain the empowerment programme for the women and youth to boost their petty businesses.

Also speaking , Alhaji Bappa Aliyu Misau, the Chairman Bauchi Fertilizer Company said the financial support came at a time where a lot of people are actually losing their daily income, due to the recent crisis facing the economy.

According to him, Honourable Bakoji has set the pace, therefore urging politicians to emulate the member for providing dividends of democracy.

“The support will provide succour to our women to engage their petty businesses to enable them to fend for their families as well as support their husbands.

Mrs Rashida Babangida, a beneficiary, thanked the legislator for the gesture and promised to use the money given to her effectively for business sustenance.

“We will continue to support Bobbo in his Political endeavors in the constituency,” he said.
