A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Rural Health Mission Nigeria ,has trained 114 Primary Health Care Workers on infection, prevention and control of covid-19.

Mal. Mohammed Sadiq, Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Gombe, on Thursday, shortly after the training.

He said the training was part of their covid- 19 response project sponsored by US Embassy Abuja.

Sadiq said they have decided to focus attention on Primary Health Care workers because they are at highest risk following the rapid spread of covid-19 in the communities.

“The training become necessary because of the increase in community transmission of covid-19 .

“PHC is the first point of contact if they community members see or feel any symptoms of covid-19.

“We trained them on how to respond, prevent and control the spread and further complications, ” he said.

Sadiq said, the second aspect of the training was, how to make hand sanitizers, which is commonly used in hospitals home and working places to disinfect hands in the absence of soap and running water.

He said with the shortage of consumables globally, following the increase in demand, if they learn how to make it at home, it would be of immense help.
