Dr Amina Dikwa bags Award for her Humanitarian Activities

The Executive Director of Amina Dikwa Foundation, Dr Amina MB Shehu has been selected for the Nation Builders Award of Excellence in Humanitarian Activity.

The award which is initiated by Project 60@60 in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and OurNigeria News Magazine is looking at encouraging patriotism to the Nation.

The Chairman of the Project, Abubakar Muhammad Sani, Ph.D, noted that Project 60@60 will be having an event on the 27th of November 2020 to celebrate 60 eminent Nigerians who were born in 1960 and have contributed to the growth and development of Nigeria.

“Dr Amina was chosen for the Nation Builders Award in Humanitarian Activity because of her immense contribution towards Women and Youth empowerment in IDPs Camps in the Northeast of Nigeria as well as for her act of always reaching out to Orphans and vulnerable people.”

Dr Amina, an indigene of Dikwa in Borno State, who is also known as Mrs Mohammed Baba Shehu, was born in the family of Dr Muhammad Kiyari Dikwa on 18th February 1994.

She attended Ruby Model school where she did her nursery education and later transferred to El-kanemi College of Islamic Theology Maiduguri, Borno State, where she furthered her primary and secondary school education and graduated in the year 2010.

This young and vibrant lady didn’t restrict herself to western education but also attended Tamimul Daar Tahfeez Islamiyya in Maiduguri where she was opportune to memorize the holy Qur’an in 2009 at the age of 15.

She later proceeded for a one year programme at Nile University Abuja after which she got admitted into Batterjee Medical College, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Amina is currently a medical doctor and a social activist.

She is the founder of Amina Dikwa foundation, a Non governmental and nonprofit Humanitarian organization (ADF), reaching out to the vulnerable and less privileged in the society.

The organisation which is based in Maiduguri, Borno State, was founded in March, 2018.

The activities of Amina Dikwa Foundation (ADF) are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people. They also value respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable segments of the population, women, youth and children are sole beneficiaries of the organizations’ various interventions.

Amina Dikwa Foundation is conceived to be an intervention agency that conceptualized and execute programmes directly, partnering with other non-profit organisations or collaborating with special interests that share the same or similar objectives with them in realizing their set goals and objectives which is within the general framework for economic, cultural and human development.

The Foundation also considers an integral part of an emergency response which include: Livelihood, Education, Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection with Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to help individuals and communities to heal their psychological trauma and rebuild social structures after an emergency or a critical event.This support helps to change people into active survivors rather than passive victims.

Amina Dikwa Foundation, through its own humanitarian operators, intervenes to effectively meet the needs of civil population in serious crisis situations by providing shelter for distressed communities, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for IDPs.

Dr. Amina Dikwa is happily married.
