Amid undying agitation for Biafra by Igbo youths, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State is making a case for Eastern Nigeria to produce Nigeria’s next President in 2023.

According to him, it is the greatest desire of youths of the region.

The governor was speaking as the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uchechukwu Ogah, advises Igbo youths to shun acts capable of plunging the country into another war.

According to the minister, “no war is ever won by emotion.”

Ogah gave the advice while addressing the people of Abia State during a special non-partisan stakeholders’ town hall meeting in Umuahia, the state capital on Monday.

The minister who explains that the meeting was convened at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari, also appeals to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, “to go for an inclusive government” in order to unite the people of the state.

Umahi however, made the case for Ndigbo to produce the next president during a state-wide broadcast in Abakaliki, the state capital.

He explains that leaders of the zone, including governors, met with representatives of the youth in the South-East over the EndSARS protests, on Sunday, noted that they had agreed to sheathe their swords for peace to reign.

Umahi  who is  Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum  says, “I think the South-East should be allowed to produce the leader of the country. I’m sure their (youths) spirit is there.

“We had a very useful discussion with the youths. They requested that we have a discussion with the President over their demands.

‘’They promised that their agitations and protests will end by the reason of their demands. Their voice has been heard and very loud. The President has taken steps to address their demands.’’
