Zamfara: Gov Matawalle approves the promotion of 6,709 primary sch Teachers

By Abba Kabara, Gusau.
in order to improve the education sector, Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara State has approved the immediate promotion of 6709 primary school teachers who were denied promotion for over ten years.
Governor Bello disclosed this approval while speaking during a political function organized by the Senator representing Zamfara central, Senator Hassan Nasiha.

He stressed the assurance of his administration of the continued provision of adequate and conducive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.

Our Correspondent report that fr over 10 years, a large percentage of primary school teachers have been receiving salaries as meagre as ten to fifteen thousand naira a month.
It would be recalled that the former PDP governor Alhaji Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi has in 2009 improved the primary teacher’s salaries with the implementation of Teachers Salary Scale (TSS) but the policy was cancelled during the tenure of the succeeding administration of Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.
Despite the cancellation of the TSS policy, the same government increased the Pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) of primary teachers, a development that generated more hardship to teachers.
During his inaugural speech, governor Matawalle announced his commitment to upgrading the educational standard of the state through the improvement of teachers’ welfare in the state.
